What is Bracing? |Types of Bracing System|Types of Bracing
Advantages of Bracing. Bracing helps for retrofitting and strengthening an existing structure. The bracing system significantly influences the restriction to the relative floor-to-floor lateral displacement. Bracing System helps to reduce inter-story drift significantly. Bracing helps to resist wind and seismic force in a more excellent way.
How many trusses do I need to brace a rafter?
Bracing is lap joined over at least two trusses as necessary. Our best advice is to leave space between the rafter and the end of the longitudinal bracing so that the diagonal brace may be fastened. Extends the entire truss length from the apex to the wall plate and must make strong contact with the wall plate until the ridge.

Chapter 11: Installing and Bracing Trusses
Interior walls should be framed so as top of wall is ½" below truss bottom and secured together by use of Simpson Strongtie STC truss clips. These keep trusses in alignment, while allowing for roof truss vertical movement. Permanent lateral bracing system (roof fully recessed purlins and bottom chord lateral X restraint) meet ANSI/TPI 1
Guidance on Permanent Bracing for Long Span Trusses
Permanent bracing, like temporary bracing during the installation process, provides stability to the truss system by supporting the trusses at right angles to the plane of the trusses. Per BCSI B-3, permanent bracing performs

Bracing Guidance for Long-Span Truss Installation
Long-span truss installation isn''t for the faint of heart. Post-frame builders know this better than most. As the first article in this series pointed out [Frame Building News, November 2020, pp. 28-30], trusses are designed to only support loads applied within a specific, typically vertical, plane. This is because trusses are narrow in relation to their depth and span and
