8.1 liter engine running rough--sometimes missing

I have an 05 National Dolphin on a Workhorse w22 chassis with the 8.1 liter chevy engine. I had the spark plugs, wires, and fuel filter replaced 2 years (approximately 6000 miles) ago. Last week climbing Sherwin grade out of of Bishop, CA it lost power and seemed to run rough with some missing. Was a hot day around 95F.

From all accounts it seemed people are happy with them. Yesterday I called on a Winnebago Sightseer that has a Chevy 8.1 workhorse chassis. Without a Ford- Chevy debate is there an advantage from one to the other or is it personal preference. The seller claimed to have owned both and said the Workhorse was much better.

I came across a 2009 maintenance sheet by Workhorse, their part# WSD060607. #30 says "Change Power Steering Fluid" and has a check mark in the 50/50K column. Too inept to scan and post here. Ultrarvproducts p/n W8003092 lets you know there is an internal filter, but it does not show the actual filter.
